Welcome to the home of IYA nebraska

We hope that in the upcoming months, this web site will become a one-stop source for International Year of Astronomy events in the state of Nebraska. We will list, at no cost, any and all public (and paid public) events that pertain to Astronomy and Space Science education during 2009. We will also provide links and contact information so visitors to this site can learn more about, and participate in, these events. If you have any activities you would like to add to the IYA Nebraska Calender of Events, please let the webmaster know.

In commemoration of the 400th year anniversary of Galileo Galilei using a telescope for astronomical purposes, the International Astronomical Union and the United Nations created the International Year of Astronomy 2009. The year-long event is an effort to bring together professional astronomers, hobby astronomers, astronomy educators, planetariums, and science museums, to inspire and educate the entire world about astronomy and space science. IYA Nebraska will be your source for International Year of Astronomy events here in our state.

Be sure to visit IYA Nebraska regularly as the Calendar of Events will be updated as new activities appear.
